Convention Policies
General Info
-
Please be aware that Berry College is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and tobacco-free campus. Any person(s) not abiding by this as well as all general rules regulated and enforced by Berry College and campus security may be asked to leave and have their badge pulled.
-
General convention rules/policies will be added as necessary. All rules are subject to change at any time before or during the con.
Prop Rules
NOTE: All rules listed below can be superseded the day of the con by requests from Berry College and campus police. Any violations of the below listed rules may result in having your prop taken off campus grounds and/or badge pulled. You may be asked to leave/escorted off college property as deemed appropriate by convention/college staff or campus police.
-
BerryCon staff members reserve the right to inspect any prop at any time they see fit. Props inspected will be marked via zip tie or another marking item to let security/staff know they have been reviewed. You may be asked to show the marked area to staff throughout the convention.
-
Real firearms or actual weapons of any sort are not allowed at BerryCon or in any part of Berry College’s campus, regardless if said weaponry is sheathed, peace-tied, etc.
-
This includes (but not limited to): guns of any sort, weapons/props made with live steel such as knives, swords, katanas, etc., anything capable of firing bullets (arrows or similar), grenades, etc.
-
-
Absolutely NO props resembling guns/firearms are permitted. This includes modified “toy” firearms such as (but not limited to) airsoft guns, waterguns, nerf guns, crossbows, BB guns, etc. regardless of functionality.
-
Firearms, fireworks, explosives or explosive devices, including hoax devices, or weapons are not permitted on campus, including storage in automobiles. The possession of ammunition is also prohibited (taken directly from the Viking Code - Berry College’s Student Handbook for the 2015-2016 year).
-
It is preferred that props are made of foam or any other material that does not have a sharp edge or spike and cannot inflict injury upon other attendees in passing. No live steel will be permitted (example - blade of a sword or axe) even if blunted.
-
Props must be under 6’6” (six feet and six inches) in length and should not weigh more than 20lbs.
-
All props should be kept close to the holder and not snag on, hit, or injure another attendee and should not be a tripping hazard.
