League of Legends and Video Game Tournaments
General BerryCon League of Legends Rules
Signing up
In order to be eligible for a tournament, you must first have a valid team. A captain must be chosen to represent their team and it is up to them to register their team with BerryCon. The team captain is the only player entitled to enroll a team in a tournament. To register, the captain must email bcar.berrycon@gmail.com. Only 8 teams may register, so don't wait! Berry students will be given priority. Teams must pay a $10 registration fee. Winning teams receive registration pot, up to $80. Players may be signed up for only one league team in the tournament. Every player listed in a given team will be considered a member and must be eligible to play in the tournament at their specific game times.
Adjusting the Team Roster
The team roster is the full list of players on a team enrolled in a given tournament. The size of a team must be five players.
Adding New Players
A team without a full roster can fill any empty spots between rounds in the case that a team member must leave for emergencies or other reasons that prevent them from playing. Replacement players may not be on another team in the league tournaments. Players can substitute a player from their roster to play in a game that has already been started and a restart is allowed if a player has hardware or technical / electricity difficulties, the player has internet difficulties, or other issues that are considered acceptable by a BerryCon League of Legends adjudicator.
Game Start Time
Once a captain of a team receives information about their next game, they will be responsible for playing with the opposing team at the designated time. Both teams are expected to show up and be ready to play by the ‘official start time’ as stated by the tournaments adjudicator. It is suggested that teams be online for at least 10 minutes prior to the official start time so they can be ready to play at the tournament block time.
Disqualifications
All of the following may result in a team or player’s disqualification upon the adjudicator’s discretion:
* Any team accused and proved to be using any hacks, cheats giving them an unfair advantage in the game or any team that makes use of any bugs, bots, etc. may be disqualified.
* Any team displaying poor sportsmanship or not following the Summoner’s Code
* Any team member using language that is obscene, foul, vulgar, insulting, threatening, abusive, libelous, slanderous, defamatory, or otherwise offensive or objectionable. Also
any statements that promote or incite hatred or any other discriminatory conduct, in or near the match area, at any time.
* Playing without a full roster of five players.
* Any acts of collusion: Intentionally feeding/throwing the game for the purpose of the other team winning.
* Making use of any bugs, bots etc.
* The adjudicator has discretion over any matters not listed above. Full uncropped game screenshots or stream footage must be provided to validate disqualification claims. If disqualified, a team forfeits its right to all prizes.
Tournament Structure
The league tournament platform will be Summoner's Rift with 5 vs. 5 players. The games will be the best of one. The games will be played back-to-back with a 5-minute break from the Victory/Defeat screen until the next lobby should begin. If a longer pause is needed, this needs to be told to an official.
